Jewellery Care – Pikaya Jewellery

Jewellery Care

JEWELLERY CARE
Your unique Pikaya jewellery will last for a lifetime if you show a little love and take care of it in the same way you would take care of your favorite cashmere sweater.
To keep your Pikayas looking at their best, we strongly advise you to keep them in their Pikaya boxes when stored and away from other jewellery to minimize them getting scratches on the shiny surfaces. Please avoid direct contact with perfumes, lotions, hair spray, make up, sun lotion and other harsh chemicals. We advise you to take your Pikayas off when taking shower, gardening, swimming, exercising and sleeping.  Wipe clean with a soft cloth before putting it away. Keep your jewellery in a cool dry place, when you’re not wearing it.

SILVER JEWELLERY CARE
If unworn for a long time your sterling silver jewellery will naturally tarnish over time. To bring it back to its first day shine there a a number of methods. The most earth friendly method is that you put a spoonful of baking soda and a spoonful of salt in a glass or ceramic bowl and add in a little ball of kitchen foil in it and top up with boiling water. Soak your jewellery in for a few minutes. Afterwards wash your jewelry with warm water and a little bit of washing up liquid. It will be as new as the first day.

RAW BRASS JEWELLERY CARE
Your raw brass satin finish Pikaya pieces will naturally oxidize over time and will gain a  characteristic look. However if you wish to bring it back to first day satin finish, your Pikaya pieces  are coming with a little pack of fine grade steel wool. Rubbing your raw brass pieces with this wool for a few minutes will bring back their satin finish.

GOLD PLATED JEWELRY CARE

To keep your gold plated jewellery shiny and bright, wipe down with a soft cloth after each wear. You can remove all dirt that’s on your jewellery with warm soapy water and an old tooth brush.
